Creamy Garlic Pasta

jump to recipe

When we were both working part time in Coffee Club (now known as O’ Coffee Club) 10 years ago, the restaurant used to offer Smoked Salmon Garlic Cream Linguine on the menu, and it was my all-time favourite dish. Today, I am happy to share that you can make the same Creamy Garlic Pasta with just a few ingredients! For this dish, we choose to go with smoked salmon as it complements well with the garlic cream. With its salty smoky taste, it elevates the flavour of the dish!

What is garlic cream made of?

There are so many ways in which you can make garlic cream. The preference usually boils down to the type of cream that you choose to use for the dish itself. For example, you can choose to use full cream, half and half or whipping cream (the cream we will be using for this particular recipe). Thus, the type of cream is really up to preference.

How do you thicken creamy garlic sauce?

The best way to achieve a nice textured creamy garlic sauce is to add parmesan cheese. By adding cheese, it helps to form a thicker texture giving the sauce a little more volume as well as adding that tangy, salty taste to it.

Creamy Garlic Pasta Ingredients

  • Whipping cream: I’ve used whipping cream for most of my cream-based pasta dishes and have found it to be light yet flavourful for any pasta dishes.
  • Cheese: The reason for choosing parmesan cheese over mozzarella is that it won’t give that unnecessary stretchy texture to your sauce. If you choose to use mozzarella, that will be the consistency you’ll see.
  • Chopped garlic: Of course, we cannot miss out on the most important ingredient here – garlic!
  • Butter, Salted: I choose to use salted so that we can omit out the use of salt altogether and give a more creamy taste to the pasta sauce.
  • Pasta: Up to your preference, you can use penne or fettuccini if you prefer to have the garlic pasta sauce gathered in each individual pasta!
  • Meat: In order to elevate the taste of the creamy sauce, I find that smoked salmon definitely helps complement with its salty goodness.
  • Vegetable: I use bell peppers for an added crunch to the overall taste of the dish!

How to make this dish?

  1. I would recommend cooking the pasta first, as the sauce can be cooked pretty quickly.
  2. Add in olive oil & butter to the pan and cook the chopped garlic first.
  3. Add in the whipping cream and parmesan into the pan and cook it until simmer.
  4. Mix the cooked pasta with the sauce until it’s done!
  5. End – Ready to Plate: Decorate it with the bell pepper and smoked salmon and it is ready to serve!
