The Best Shakshuka Recipe

Shakshuka is the ultimate "one-pan wonder" that looks like a gourmet feast but requires surprisingly little effort. This Middle Eastern baked eggs dish is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 dash paprika powder
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 1 canned tomato
  • 220 g minced beef optional
  • 5 eggs

Instructions

  • Heat up oil in a medium size pan at medium heat. Add the minced beef and salt. Saute the beef until it turns brown.
  • Add the canned tomato along with sugar, paprika and black pepper. Mix them well.
  • Cover the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes.
  • Make pockets of holes in the sauce and add the desired number of eggs.
  • Cover the pan again and let it cook for another 5 minutes. Add coriander leaves as garnish and you're done!
